The Art Of Time, MoMa Watches

Posted on 7:30 AM by Metropolitan

Fashion is art, so when a world renowned museum of art decides to market stylish watches, you know that something truly special is up for grabs. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) is a world class art museum found in New York City’s Midtown Manhattan on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Collections found at this museum include works of design, sculpture and architecture. MoMa is considered to be the world’s finest museum of contemporary art as it holds on file the works of over 70 000 international artists—a true tribute to the world of art.
The MoMa online store has a collection of some extremely stylish jewellery and watches for both men and women, and their watches are worth browsing. We at the Metropolitan have decided to present some of our favourites. If you are interested in purchasing something truly beautiful for your wrist, visit MoMa
This classic easy-to-read watch by Lissoni for Alessi features three chronograph registers in its rounded square-shaped white dial. Made of a stainless-steel case, mineral crystal, and black leather band. It is perfect for evenings and will pair beautifully with a dark coloured suit.

In the 1940s, Swiss engineer and designer Hans Hilfiker created the famous Swiss Railways Clock with its highly visible, red second hand. Today the wristwatch, with the same characteristic bold, clean features as the clock, is recognized as a classic. This Big Case model has an extra large, easy-to-read face and date, and includes a water-resistant polished stainless-steel case, mineral-glass crystal, quartz movement, and black leather strap. This is a very avant-garde looking timepiece that can be either dressed up or down. Its simple design allows it to be worn stylishly with a business suit, and it will look equally charming if paired with denim for a trip into town.

Truly unique in its display of time, the minutes and hours fade in and out as time passes. Part of the Projects series, where architects and designers are commissioned to craft timepieces, Reveal is the work of computer graphics pioneer Daniel Will-Harris. The only analog watch to read in a digital manner. Available in black with a leather strap or stainless steel. A pamphlet inside gives a biography of the designer and his inspiration behind the piece. This is a unique conversation piece that will surely create a stir at your office.

A departure from standard timepieces, this wide-band unisex watch with alarm displays the progression of time graphically from left to right, featuring vertical bars for hours and minutes. Seconds and the date are digitally displayed in small windows. Made of plastic and polyurethane. Water-resistant. A very casual watch not suited for business attire, but will pair perfectly with weekend wear.
