Desert Boots

Posted on 11:06 AM by Metropolitan

It is always important to remember that in the world of fashion sometimes trends are set on the street, and not on the major runways of the world. Let us take a close look at a unique piece that has been around for more than sixty years, and still catches the eye because of its continual revision by fashion labels, the desert boot. Originally created by Nathan Clark while serving in the British army on posting in Burma, with the West African Brigade. The desert boot was conceived by Clark to be a truly utilitarian boot with immense shock absorbing properties because of its crepe sole. Because of its unique rubber sole, these boots also have great water repellent capabilities as well--perfect for patrols in the deserts and jungles during wartime. The Clarks shoe company still to this day holds the desert boot as its best selling footwear. If we have succeeded in peaking your interest you can check out Clarks website or purchase them cheaper on Amazon.

The amazing thing about desert boots is that its utilitarian nature transfers over to fashion as well, because you can more or less wear them with any outfit! Available in two types of leather; full-grain and suede. It looks best with raw denim when paired with brown or tan coloured suede desert boots, but during the spring/summer months you can wear them with equal ease if you chose to dawn a lighter pair of trousers such as chinos. Lacoste was one of the first luxury brands to promote the wearing of desert boots with rolled chinos, and now other companies are following suit. So let us know in the comments section below if you agree with us about the trendy desert boot as the ideal spring/summer footwear. Also tell us how you wear your desert boots, how do you co-ordinate it with other items in your wardrobe!
